The Truth About Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

Yesterday is gone. All of its events that presented us with trials, triumphs, sadness and enjoyments are over. Although we may remember them as if they just happened, and although we may still have to feel or deal with the ramifications, the events themselves are gone. They left with yesterday.

Today is a new day. Today we woke up with breath in our bodies. Today we have new opportunities and choices, like the opportunity to bless someone, love someone or use the gifts God has given us to glorify Him in spite of what we’re feeling. Or choices, like choosing to rejoice in the day and be grateful for the countless blessings that exist within this day alone.

Tomorrow is a mystery. It is a place where only God dwells. Worrying about it, looking forward to it, wishing it were here now are all efforts, energies and time we lose on actually living today. Tomorrow is just a figment of our imaginations. Today is reality. We create memories today, not in our dreams of what tomorrow might bring. Our fear about tomorrow is a fallacy. The enemy uses it to rob us of today. But the truth is, God has favored us today. He has made us conquerors and overcomes and that truth allows us to win today, if we choose to.

Let’s make a conscious effort to live in today. For us dwellers of the past, whether it was good or bad, it’s the past. Live today. For us work horses who can’t wait to reap the harvest of the seeds we’re sowing now. Find joy in the fact that we have seeds to sow and that we’re capable of doing what needs to be done now. Live today.

This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Choose to rejoice in the gift of today.
