If it’s in your life you can handle it

When I heard about the tragic suicide of Miss Jessie’s Co-Founder Titi Branch, I put a lot of thought into whether or not I should write this blog post. Like so many others I wondered what she was going through that could have made her feel that her life wasn’t worth living anymore. I wanted to address it all but really wasn’t sure what God wanted me to say. So, I stopped thinking about it and started praying instead. This is what He told me, “If it’s in your life, you can handle it.”

We’ve all been through something. Whether it’s abuse, addiction, broken relationships, loss, sickness, or whatever it may be, the fact of the matter is this, the love of Jesus Christ can get us through any hardship that comes into our lives, if we allow it to. God will never give us more than we can handle.

I couldn’t imagine too many things much worse than losing a child, until I did. Loosing my daughter was devastating. But the one thing that could have made it a hundred times worse, is not having the love of Christ in my life during that season. There’s no real way to prepare ourselves emotionally for tragedy, but we can prepare our hearts and our souls by getting the Word of God on the inside of us and allowing His perfect love to take over.

No matter what we face in this world, with God, we can make it! When we give up on life, we’re saying that we don’t believe that the love of God is strong enough to get us past our pain. But, it can. It truly can.
