He Holds It All Together

Today’s Scripture
Colossians 1:17
“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

Today’s Word
Colossians 1:17 is a pretty awesome scripture. It tells us Jesus is holding EVERYTHING together. Wow! Even people who don’t realize this are held together by Him. Think about it. We can’t have a good marriage if Jesus isn’t holding it together. If Jesus isn’t leading and guiding our personal relationships, then we aren’t going to have good ones. Our finances would be a mess without Jesus. Our minds and emotions would be a wreck without you Him. Everything would be a mess without Jesus.
If Jesus is not the most important thing in our life, then we need to rearrange our priorities. Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God and His kingdom first because if we don’t have first things first, then everything else will also be out of order and cause us problems. God’s way of being, doing and seeking His kingdom, is to find out how He wants things done- how to treat people, how to act in situations, how to spend money, what kind of attitude to have, and what kind of entertainment He approves of. Start today by giving Him first place in your life. He’s holding you together…He created You to follow Him. Put Him first in your life.

Today’s Prayer
God, I am nothing without You. You hold me together…in fact, You hold everything together. You are the most important thing in my life and I put You first. In Jesus name. Amen.He hoo

God Isn’t Glorified Through Our Suffering

Today’s Scripture
Colossians 3:2
“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

Today’s Word
Many Christians live under the false idea that God wants them to suffer. This creates a nonstop victim mentality. Suffering is inevitable, but God is not glorified through our suffering. He is glorified when we have a good attitude during our suffering – and He wants us to be victorious!
So why would we choose to remain bitter, angry and wounded or depressed?
There’s one surefire way to overcome suffering with the right attitude: Set your mind, and keep it set, on things above, not on things of the earth. You must be armed with right thinking, or you will give up during hard times. Set your mind and be fully aware that moving from being a victim to being a victor will not be a quick process. It will take time, but your experience will make you stronger and enable you to help others who are facing similar battles.
Get excited about your future and realize that going through something with God means that you will come out on the other side with a victory that cannot be taken away from you.

Today’s Prayer
God, I need Your help to overcome a victim mentality. I choose to set my mind on things above so that I can have the right attitude. With Your thoughts and truth inside me, I know I can overcome. In Jesus name. Amen.

God’s Word Is Good Medicine

Today’s Scripture
Psalms 107:20
“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Today’s Word
Many make the mistake of substituting belief in healing for the actual taking of God’s medicine – His Word. They say, ‘I believe in healing’ without actually taking the medicine. How much good can medicine do for us if we don’t take it? God’s Word is His medicine – it’s a healing agent, just as natural medicine is a healing agent or catalyst. In other words, the medicine itself contains the capacity to produce healing. Inherent within God’s Word is the capacity, the energy, the ability, and the nature to effect healing in your body.
So how do we take it? It is only as God’s Word gets in the midst of your heart and stays there that it produces healing in your body. Head knowledge alone won’t do. The Scriptures have to penetrate to your spirit through meditation – attending, hearing, looking, muttering, musing, pondering – to produce healing in your body. But once the Word really penetrates your heart, it will surely bring health to all your flesh. Let the Word of God penetrate deep within your heart today.

Today’s Prayer
God, I choose today to meditate on Your healing Word. With Your Word deep in my heart, I know that Your healing will fill my body. In Jesus name, Amen.

Do You Ever Feel Too Needed?

Today’s Scripture
Philippians 2:3
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

Today’s Word
Philippians 2:3 says to regard others more than yourself. The Holy Spirit wants to develop in us a desire to prefer others and meet their needs. However, living this way can sometimes be tiring. Let’s face it – we all have days when we don’t want to go out of our way to help someone else. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed trying to help others the way I think I should. At times it seems all of my family members need me, my employees need me, my friends need me, and they all need me in different ways.
Do I ever feel too needed? Yes! And it’s OK if you do too. We all feel overwhelmed from time to time. But we must remember that God gives us grace to do whatever He’s asking us to do. When you feel weary trying to meet the needs of others, go back to Philippians 2:3 and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Humble yourself before God and He will strengthen you to be there for the people in your life that He’s asking you to help.

Today’s Prayer
God, I want to obey Your Word and regard others more than myself. When I’m struggling, lacking a desire to help others and feel overwhelmed, give me Your grace and strength to love and help the people You’ve placed in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Hope Out Loud

Today’s Scripture
Psalms 25
“Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.”

Today’s Word
What is something that you are confident about? The Bible teaches us in many places and with many different illustrations that God will be faithful to those who faithfully hope in him. This verse tells us that God will not allow shame to come to us. Sometimes it is difficult to have hope. It can be especially difficult to hope out loud. Sometimes, others are threatened by our hope because they have none, and they work to hurt those who are hopeful. These people are being “treacherous,” which means they are faithless, deceitful and untrustworthy.
That’s why this verse becomes so important to believers. We need to know that God will not forget us. He will not allow us to be shamed for our hope. When we put our hope in God, we will be victorious. This should give us tremendous confidence. Believers should not be afraid to hope. We should hope boldly — out loud — because we know that God is real, and our hope in him is real.

Today’s Prayer
Dear God, thank you for giving us hope. Thank you for protecting those who hope in you. Let our hope in you give us confidence each day. In Jesus name. Amen.

Passing Life’s Tests

Today’s Scripture
Psalms 7:9
“O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous: For the righteous God trieth the minds and hearts.”

Today’s Word

Life is filled with challenges that test our determination and our faith in God. Whether we’re faced with the impending threat of evil or with everyday hassles, the quality of our character is sure to be tested on a regular basis.
It would be a great mistake to overlook the fact that God tests our hearts, our emotions and our minds. What does it mean to test something? It means to put pressure on it to see if it will do what it says it will do. Will it hold up under stress? Can it perform at the level its maker says it can? Is it genuine when measured against a true standard of quality?
God does the same with us.
Are you being tested today? The key is to keep trusting God, even if you don’t understand. There is no such thing as trusting God without unanswered questions, but when you push ahead, despite your doubts, He will build you up and make you strong.

Today’s Prayer
Lord, when tested, I want to be ready, holding up under pressure, following You no matter what. Show me daily how to put my trust in You, even when I struggle with unanswered questions. In Jesus name. Amen.

Making a Decision to Forgive

Today’s Scripture
Mark 11:25
“And whensoever ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any one; that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Today’s Word
When someone hurts us, we often react as though that individual has stolen from us. We feel that they owe us, yet God wants us to let it go. If we refuse to forgive, what hope do we have of receiving what we need? To receive from God what He has promised in His Word, we must obey Him, regardless of how difficult it may be. We must forgive.
The greatest deception that Satan has perpetuated in the area of forgiveness is the idea that if our feelings have not changed, we have not truly forgiven. When you decide to forgive someone, don’t let the devil convince you that because you still have the same feelings, you have not really forgiven the person. You can make the right decision to forgive and not “feel” any differently. That’s when faith steps in. You have done your part, now wait on God. He will do His part and heal your emotions, make you whole, and change your feelings toward the person who hurt you.

Today’s Prayer
Lord, I choose to forgive those who have hurt me. I release them from their debt, in Jesus’ name. Heal my heart and make me whole. In Jesus name. Amen.
