Let Go and Let God?

How often do we hear this? When we’re going through tough seasons believers that are trying to uplift us will often times tell us to just let go and let God.  It sounds so effortless, but how do you do it? Letting go of a situation can be extremely difficult, especially if it involves people we love. We want to do our best to fix things, to make them better but what we don’t realize is that we are inadvertently playing God. It’s our responsability to do what we can and then trust God to do what we can’t do rather than trying to figure out God’s part so that we can do that too.  But, that’s tough and fortunately God understands our challenge.

What He wants us to both realize and understand is that we are only making things more difficult on ourselves by not trusting Him.  We’re afraid that letting go is the equivalent of giving up.  This mentality isn’t much different then admitting that we’re afraid that if we let God handle things, they won’t turn out the way the we want them to.  When that thought hits us we have to realize that it is fear, and God did not give us a spirit of fear. What we may not realize is that fear often times exists because we know that God’s thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours. But that fact should give us hope rather than make us afraid.  When we’re going through a difficult season that is the perfect time to practice letting go and letting God. It may not be easy now, but the more you practice, the easier it gets.

We brought this question to the Curly Christians Instagram Nation, “How do you truly Let Go & Let God? and here’s what they had to say:

@_rdgm: Keep praying. Don’t worry and pray at the same time.

@agape78: We often leave it at the altar on Sunday and pick it back up by Wednesday. The problem is we think we can do it on our own emotionally driven. Epic fail. We must train ourselves to remember God is in control and when we want to pick it up-pray. Worship. Interrupt our own thoughts. Shut the voices that the Lord may have His way. So difficult.

@returning2natural: By resting in him!

@allnaturale34: I ask God to take it away from me!!

@longislandnaturals: I think it usually happens at a persons breaking point, they become exhausted that they realize there is no other way to stop leave the situation alone and allow God to have total control instead of thinking he asked you for help.

@msrokia: We as people of this world often get so caught up in things of this world that we forget who to cast all of our cares on…we have to remember that He is our first response, not our last resort!

@dumbonem: I pray for peace in the hard times and repeat that prayer every time I feel the worry creeping back. It’s not fool proof, but it helps. Like others said. definitely easier said than done.

@bestofsade: be still

@msmarya: Prayer & accept what’s gone and move on

@itswheretheheartis: Keep His Word and His promise before me so when I start to focus on the problem I refocus on His Word – It doesn’t return void.

What Does it Mean to Speak Life?

As Christians speaking life is something that we should try to do on a daily basis in every area of our lives.  But what does it mean to speak life?  Well, speaking life is about staying positive and making sure that the words we speak are in favor of what we are believing God for and most importantly that they line up with His Word.

A big benefit of speaking life is the fact that we are calling things into existence as the Word of God says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Not only that, but speaking life also helps us to work our faith muscles so that we can continue to grow in Christ in our faith walk. My Pastor always says “You have to say it’s so when it’s not so in order for it to be so” The more we speak life the more we will see positive things manifest in our lives.

We asked the Curly Christians Instagram Nation what speaking life meant to them and why is it important. Here’s what they had to say:

@evenmolovly: To pour into, in attempt to revive the will to push forward….inspire encourage maybe intercede for as well…

@nadria_cyleste: To me it’s all about encouragement. Speaking positivity into someone so that they are encouraged to go on and try to have peace within any trials they are going through

@naomi_chavanne: To speak life means to Resurrect. Maybe it may be your health thats at risk you can declare life over it, maybe its a dream that you need to come to pass, but it needs life, maybe its your confidence that’s slowly going down the drain and it needs life. The only reason why we have the right to speak life is because it lives in us. Which is Jesus Christ (who is the Way, the Truth and the Life). Where there’s life there’s progress, there’s hope, there’s light. Death cannot be found in the mist of Life. Light shuts down death. And Life cannot produce Death. Life just brings a lot of (ALIVE) things to the table. And it’s important that we speak life into our lives because only we have the power. The word declares we have the power of life and death on our tongues. So LIFE is what we should reap.

@mommasmuv: Speaking life is as simple as speaking what the word of God says about your life! It’s important to come in agreement with God and what his word says about you so you’ll know who you are and what you have in Christ Jesus!!!

@kreamykurls: Speaking life for me is spitting optimism in everything that you do. When my life wasn’t where I wanted it to be I told myself I’d become the opposite. I was a pessimist and wanted to be an optimist. As well as speaking it, I believed and tools steps into becoming that.

@exemplify_excellence: Speaking life is showing who you are through Christ and speaking God’s message.

So, what does speaking life mean to you?

How do you truly forgive someone who’s hurt you?

Forgiveness is something that many of us have a difficult time overcoming, especially if it involves someone close to us.  During times when we find it difficult to move on from a situation where we feel like we were mistreated it is critical to bring it to Christ so that He  can help restore us from that pain and forgive those individuals. It’s not easy, it’s a process. But as we grow  in Christ forgiveness gets easier.

We brought the question of how to truly forgive to the Curly Christians Instagram Nation and here’s what they had to say.  What are your thoughts on how to truly forgive?

@ferris_bueiier: This might require a written confession of forgiveness and it sounds like its going to be a process…..meaning every time that you see them or think about them you have to practice forgiveness

jhean_leigh: This is a question I’ve been asking myself for the past month. I’ve learned that one must go through the motions and find a healthy outlet but it is by no means easy.

@girlwiddabigdimple: Remember that everyone is human and sometimes you won’t be the priority in everyone’s lives…

@jhean_leigh: @ferris_bueiier the hard part isn’t so much seeing them but thinking about the person is what’s my biggest struggle. Forgiveness is a process and we learn so much about ourselves by learning to forgive those who have hurt us….

@icajoja: Have to forgive yourself first @jhean_leigh

@jhean_leigh yes this is true…..thoughts can be apart of the spiritual warfare that might be associated with the person….if they were under a demonic influence its possible that the same demon that was influencing them could be attacking you. I had to learn this the hard way…..but stay prayed up #iwillprayforyou

@nisha_pana: Someone once said forgienvess is for you not for the other person.  In other word, you have to forgive yourself first in order to have peace. Once you have healed, eventually you forgive the person.

@msz_wallace: When we don’t forgive we are still allowing that person to hurt us.

@simply_kesha1: Begin to confess your forgiveness in spite of how you feel.  Pray for them even if you don’t want to and the more that you pray for them, the more God will work on your heart towards them and the pain that you once felt will be removed and true forgiveness takes place.

@longislandnaturals: Pray and then pray some more. God is the only one who can truly soften your heart if you allow him. We are weak.

@cicinspireme: I think about how many times God has forgiven me.

I’ll do what He wants me to do. I’ll say what He wants me to say, and I’ll be what He wants me to be. Not my will, but His be done.

@amberjanielle: I trust in Christ alone for my salvation
